What is Ahad Nama ?
Ahad nama is one of the dua like others Islamic duas. It contains praise of Almighty Allah. It does not contain the exact words of Holy Quran. But it is the dua that prasises Allah’s greatness, his uniqueness & his great qualities. Few people object regarding this dua and call it bidat which is wrong. It is absolutely permissible to recite this and gain blessings from it. There is nothing against Islam in reciting this dua.We should read this every morning and evening to get blessings from it.
Translation of first few sentences of Ahad nama in english is:
“O Allah, the originator of skies, the knower of hidden things, I bear witness that you are the most benefecient, the most merciful. O Allah I make covenant to you in this world’s life. And I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except you. You are one. You do not have any partners. And I bear witness that Mohammad (peace be upon him) is your servant and messenger.”
From this translation, one can easily make out that there is nothing wrong in reciting it. In fact we get rewards for praising Almighty Allah.

Benefits Of Reading Ahad Nama With Hadith Reference :
It is narrated by Hazrat A’bdullah ibn e Masood radiallahu a’nhu that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said when someone reads the ahad nama every morning and evening, an angel will record it and place it under the throne of Almighty ALLAH. And on the day of judgement a caller will call out, saying where are those people with whom there is a ALLAH’s promise. They will then enter heavens.
Darr e Mukhtar & Ahad Nama Benefits
In a famous book named Darr e Mukhtar it is written that in writing Ahad nama on a dead body’s forehead or turban or shroud there is a hope of forgiveness from ALLAH.
Ahad nama benefits in grave:
- There was a person who instructed his nearby people to write بِسمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ on his chest and forehead after he expires. So it was written as he said to write after his death. Someone saw him in his dream and he said “when I was placed into the grave, the angels of torment came and saw بِسمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ written on my head and said you are free from the torment of ALLAH.” (Darr e Mukhtar).
- One of a pious servants of ALLAH, Imam Taoos instructed to write these words of Ahad nama.
اَللّٰہُمَّ ےَا فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ عَالِمَ الغَیبِ وَ الشَّھَادَۃِ اَنتَ الرَّحمٰنُ الرَّحِیمُ۔ اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنََی اَعہَدُ اِلَیکَ فِی ھٰذِہِ الحَیٰوۃِ الدُّنیَا وَ اَشھَدُ اَن لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اَنتَ وَحدَکَ لَا شَرِیکَ لَکَ وَ اَشھَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدٌا عَبدَکَ وَ رَسُولَکَ فَلَا تَکِلِّنِی اِلیٰ نَفسِی فَاِنَّکَ اِن تَکِلِّی اِلیٰ نَفسِی تُقَرِّبنِی اِلیَ الشَّرِّ۔ وَ تُبَاعِد نِی مِنَ الخَیرِ وَ اِنِّی لَا اَتَّکِلُ اِلَّا بِرَحمَتِکَ فَاجعَل لِّی عِندَکَ وَعَھدٌا تُوَفِّیہِ اِلیٰ یَومِ القِیَامَۃِ اِنَّکَ لَا تُخلِفُ المِیعَادَ۔ وَ صَلَّی اللّٰہُ تَعَالیٰ عَلیٰ خَیرِ خَلقِہِ مُحَمَّدِِ وَّ اٰلِہِ وَ اَصحٰبِہ اَجمَعِینَ۔ بِرَحمَتِکَ ےَا اَرحَمَ الرَّاحِمِینَ
لَو لَا اِذ دَخَلتُ جَنَّتَکَ قُلتُ مَا شَا ءَ اللّٰہُ لَا حَولَ وَلاَ قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰہِ
Ahad Nama Kya Hai?
Dosri duawon ki tarah ahad nama bhi ek dua hai jisme Allah taala se ahed kiya hai. Uski hamd o sana bayan ki hai. Allah taala ki wahdaniyyat aur Mohammad (sallallahu a’laihi wa sallam) Allah ke bande aur Rasool hone ki gawahi hai. Kuch log ispar aitraaz karte hain aur isko biddat kehte hain. Is dua mein aisi koi islam ke khilaf baat nahi hai. Iska padhna bilkul jaiz aur sawab hai.
Ahad Nama Ki Fazeelat, Ahmiyat aur Fayde :
Hadith
Hazrat Abdullah ibn e Masood radiallhu a’nhu se riwayat hai keh ALLAH ke Rasool sallallahu a’laihi wa sallam ne ek baar apne Ashaab se irshad farmaya: Tum is baat se aajiz ho keh subah sham ALLAH se ahad liya karo, arz ki gayi kaise? Irshad farmaya: Jo har koi subah sham is ahad nama ko padhega, ek farishta uspar mohar lagakar arsh ke neeche rakhdega aur qayamat ko munada nida karega keh kahan hain wo log jinke paas ALLAH ka ahad hai, toh woh jannat mein dakhil honge.
Ahad nama ki fazilat:
Ek mashoor kitab darr e mukhtar mein hai keh mayyit ki peshani ya imama ya kafan par ahad nama likhne se unki bakhshish ki ummeed hai. Kisi saheb ne wasiyyat ki thi keh peshani aur seena par بِسمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ wisal ke baad likh di jaye, wisal ke baad likh diya gaya. Kisi ne baad mein inko khwab mein dekha toh inhone bataya keh jab inhe qabr mein rakha gaya toh azaab ke farishte aaye toh meri peshani par بِسمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ likha dekha toh kaha tujhe azaab e ilahi se nijat hai. (درِّ مختار).
Ek ALLAH ke neik bande Imam Taoos ne ahad nama ke in kalimaat ko apne kafan par likhne ki wasiyyat farmayi thi. Inki wasiyyat ke mutabik inke kafan par yeh kalimat likhe gaye the.
Ahad Nama ke fayde:
Qabr me Ahad nama likhkar Qible ki taraf rakhne se farishton ke salawat dene mein asani hogi. Iski barkat se Qabr se azab se mehfooz rehne ki umeed hai.
